Bathroom Remodeling in Kent, WA

Shower remodels built on waterproofing you can count on

A shower looks good because of the tile. It lasts because of what's behind the tile. We build both parts carefully.

Walk-in shower with large-format stone-look tile, a built-in niche and a matte black rain shower

Showers are the hardest-working part of most bathrooms, and the most common place for hidden water damage. Stained grout, soft spots in the floor, loose tiles and peeling caulk are often signs that water is getting where it shouldn't.

Homez Remodel rebuilds showers from the studs out when it's needed: removing the old surround, fixing what's underneath, waterproofing properly and finishing with tile and fixtures. We also work on tubs, including replacing an old tub or updating a tub-shower combination.

What a shower remodel can include

Demolition
Removing old tile, fiberglass surrounds or dated tubs down to what needs to come out.
Repairs behind the walls
Addressing damaged framing or backer board we uncover, so the new shower starts on solid ground.
Waterproofing
A continuous waterproofing layer on walls, floor and niches: the part you never see and the part that matters most.
Shower pan and drain
A properly sloped floor so water goes to the drain instead of sitting in corners.
Tile walls and floor
Tile laid out around niches, benches and valves so the finished shower looks deliberate.
Tubs and fixtures
Tub replacement, valves, shower heads and trim installed and tested.

Planning your shower

  • Tub or shower?

Some homeowners want a walk-in shower; others need to keep a tub for kids or resale. We'll talk it through for your household.

  • Niches and benches

Built-in niches keep bottles off the floor. They need to be planned into the framing and waterproofing, not added later.

  • Glass and curb

Curb height and glass layout affect how the shower feels and how water stays in. Decide before tile goes up.

  • Valve location

Moving the controls closer to the door means you can turn on the water without getting wet. It's easiest to do during a full remodel.

Val did an amazing job remodeling all three of our bathrooms. I've added after and before pictures of our primary bathroom.

He and his team were efficient, friendly, and really easy to work with. The results exceeded our expectations!

Shower Remodeling questions

Something else on your mind? Call (206) 960-3383.
  • Can you convert a tub into a shower?

Converting a tub to a walk-in shower is a common bathroom project. We'll look at your space and plumbing during your free estimate and explain what the change involves.

  • What if you find water damage behind the old tile?

If we uncover damage once walls are open, we'll show you, explain what needs to be repaired and discuss it with you before moving forward.

  • Why does waterproofing matter so much?

Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own. Without a proper waterproofing layer, water slowly reaches the wall and floor framing. That's why we treat waterproofing as the core of every shower we build.
